The First U.K. Full Moon Horrors . . .

. . . held their inaugural r*n at 2pm on Saturday 15th July 1995 at The Blacksmith's Arms, Thornwood Common, Epping.

The hares were Panther & Kebab (you can see them here, being overlooked by some young kid who now goes by the name of Mr Balls!) who set a trail wound round Wintry Wood, which is on the Harlow side of Epping. There was a good turnout (of 27) who probably wondered what their mums and dads had dragged them to!

Over the next five years they clocked up 50 r*ns (Kebab doing all 50!) and had a ball on the way.

There was the first of the campout weekends held at Debden in Epping Forest, which is one of the best places to hash in the county. The next one was at Waldegraves Holiday Park on Mersea Island and that was a blast too.

Although you see a picture of Panther deliberating over the down-downs at the first circle, this is where the one and only Digger cut his teeth. The legend that is Big-Boy was created on those Saturday afternoons. This is where 'Father Abraham' and 'Lean Forward' were honed and how we now have the AC/DC inspired 'Na na na na na na - Fergus' chant. The boy is a star (even though he is now 30!)

What of the others? Well, Ronnie & Reggie have been a bit quiet of late, but wouldn't you be if some hasher had just puked a pint of cider over you during the circle at an Essex r*n? Then there's Torpedo and Pinga. They manage to talk their mum and dad (Dr Doolittle & Vicky Vomit) into bringing them to EH3 now and again. Cow Scarer & Guzzler are stalwarts of MASH, and have been so for a number of years, thanks to the previously mentioned Crystal Balls. However, they are just as likely to turn up at one of our do's (as they did at the Curry R*n, Friday 13th etc etc). Don't worry though, you'll recognise them. They are the one's who tower over Mr Balls!

All of this would not be complete without mention of the terrible two : Pic 'n' Mix! Little did we know back then what we were unleashing an unsuspecting hash world. Just ask Omo and Zipper - their lives were hell for a number of years thanks to the Shiggy Monsters.

Digger, Kebab and Pic 'n' Mix went to Nash Hash in 2007 and had a great time. They catch up occasionally at Full Moon events but, as usual, things move on. The 'real world' beckoned and they all see each other less and less.

Moving on to 2013, thanks to Fergie, we get the chance of a reunion at Thurrock Rugby Club. It was great to see the whole team back together.

Full Moon Nash Hash IX was hosted at Writtle in 2015 and the Sunday Hangover Trail was taken care of by the Horrors, so I guess we can count that as their 51st r*n. There could well be another sometime.

There is no doubt that the Full Moon Horrors bring back great memories for a number of us. Kids on the hash - it'll never last!

On - On
